I was one of those that followed the Zuma case with average interest. Because I have faith in the ability of the judge appointed to deliver an appropriate verdict, I will not pass judgement on the case. Rather, I will comment on Zuma’s views on HIV. These left me wondering. His statements about him having a low risk of being infected because he is a man, and that taking a shower afterwards reduced the risk of him being infected had me wondering initially as to whether the general population was being mislead on the facts about HIV. I mean, this was coming from the once Chairperson of the National AIDS Council. There surely had to be some truth in it, right? And then our esteemed health minister refused to comment on this. This only served to reinforce my initial suspicion. And then there was the avalanche of condemnation for his views that came from HIV specialists, and I was calm again. The one comment spoke of Zuma’s statements having taken the fight against HIV/AIDS back 15 years! I can agree with this. I shudder at the thought of all those supporters of Msholozi actually sharing his beliefs on HIV. The fact that KwaZulu-Natal has the highest HIV prevalence rate in South Africa does not help allay my worst fears.
Then the other day I was reading about the now infamous Putco Mafani being divorced by his wife because he made moves on the maid. As sad as that is, what I found most peculiar about this story was that the account of the events leading to the divorce included one where he went to the maid’s room with a towel wrapped around his waist and a bottle of baby oil and asked her to give him a massage before his golf game. The baby oil bit struck me as I recall that Zuma had also gone to his bathroom to get some baby oil so he could massage his alleged victim. I have to ask: What’s with the baby oil?

Ground rules...
Though I like to think of myself as the 'average guy', my thoughts sometimes are just not average...
I have decided to set this up to voice my opinions on things. I will be speaking about anything and everything, and you can best believe that not everyone will agree with my views. While I will desist from using profanities, there might be times that I will make a reference to some profanity or other in a bit to fully express my sentiment about something - none of which is intended to offend.
So, think of this as me deciding to take this constitutionally protected right of free speech for a spin...
